New Delhi, December 20

On Tuesday, the Aam Aadmi Party announced that Delhi Governor V.K. Saxena said he had no authority to order the general secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the party for “political propaganda”.

At a press conference here, AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj called the LG’s directive a “new love letter”.

“BJP is upset that we have become a national party and taken power from MCD. LG Sahab is doing everything according to BJP’s instructions and this is worrying the people of Delhi. The more worried the people of Delhi are, the happier they are. BJP gets it,” Bhardwaj said.

He said the LG directive would not stand before the law.

“Delhi LG has no such authority. He cannot issue such directions. These do not stand before the law. Other state governments also issue advertisements. Various BJP state governments have issued advertisements published here. We want to ask. When will the Rs 22,000 crore spent on advertisements be recovered from them? On the day of disbursement, we will also give Rs 97 crore,” said the AAP leader.

Saxena has directed his general secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the Aam Aadmi Party for political advertisements published under the guise of government advertisements, official sources said on Tuesday.
