Alexis McAllister is unlikely to return to Brighton before the New Year | Jobs Vox

Alexis McAllister is unlikely to return to the Brighton & Hove Albion squad until the New Year after winning the World Cup against Argentina.

The midfielder celebrates the triumph in Qatar with his teammates in Buenos Aires.

Brighton wants to give him all the time he needs to take part in the festivities, spend time with his family and mentally adapt to club duty.

McAllister would not be involved in tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup last-16 tie against League One side Charlton Athletic despite the Argentine’s success.

Brighton resume their Premier League campaign away to Southampton on Boxing Day. Robert de Zerb’s side host Arsenal five days later, then visit Everton on January 3, where Mc Allister scored twice in a 3-2 win last season.

Danny Welbeck is expected to miss the Charlton match and the trip to Southampton after picking up a minor injury in the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa at the World Cup in Dubai.
