Green Bay Packers left guard Elgton Jenkins (knee) returned to practice Friday, indicating he will be available to play against the Los Angeles Rams. Monday Night Football. Jenkins is coming off a torn ACL in 2021 and has missed regular practice throughout the season and is still eligible to play.
Aside from the change involving Jenkins, there were no other differences between Green Bay’s injury report on Thursday and Friday.
Left tackle David Bakhtiari, who is coming off both a knee injury and appendectomy, has missed back-to-back practices since his welcome return. Earlier this week, head coach Matt LaFleur called Bakhtiari a “long shot” to play this week. If Bakhtiari is unable to suit up, rookie Zach Thome, who has made three starts this season, is expected to start at left tackle in Week 15.
Safety Darnell Savage (foot) has been in full practice this week, which almost certainly means he will play against the Rams. Savage pitched for Rudy Ford against the Philadelphia Eagles, putting Savage in a cash prize role. Savage injured his leg in his lone save against the Eagles, which kept him out against the Chicago Bears.
It’s unclear if Savage and Ford will start at safety, or if Ford’s start against the Eagles was a planned decision to try to stop the dual-threat quarterback. “I still have complete faith in Darnell Savage,” defensive coordinator Joe Barry said in a post-practice press conference Friday, leaving playing time open in 2022. Savage’s fifth-year option has been picked up, meaning he will play. 7.9 million USD will be guaranteed next season.
Much like the Packers injury report, not much changed for the Rams today. Starting center Brian Allen (knee)’s transition from non-participant to limited contributor could be a big help for quarterback Baker Mayfield, who has been in Los Angeles for just two weeks.
LaFleur said earlier in the week that the team was ready to play defensive lineman Aaron Donald, but an ankle injury kept him out of practice this week, making him less likely to play Monday. Along with Donald, defensive tackle Marquise Copeland (knee), linebacker Travin Howard (hip), defensive back David Long Jr. (groin) and backup linebacker John Wolford (neck) are out until Friday.
