It’s time to dance with someone – MAC Cosmetics has teamed up with the Whitney Houston estate for the MAC x Whitney Houston collection, which launches on Thursday.
The collection will feature 11 limited-edition capsule products, including lipsticks, a high-shine lip gloss, a blush, ‘Just Whitney’ – a gold highlighter based on her 2002 album, an eyeshadow palette that aims to recreate the singer’s smoky eye shadow. A disco ball inspired makeup bag and round eyelash kit.
MAC Cosmetics worked with Pat Houston, the executor of Whitney Houston’s estate, as well as her sister-in-law and former manager, to help create the products. Pat and MAC celebrated iconic moments in Whitney Houston’s career over the years.
“Whitney has always been a champion of making women feel beautiful, whether it’s for an important event or just casual wear,” Pat Houston said in a statement. “Our work with MAC is to create a line that can meet all of these needs. The line matches the eye and lip colors she loved to work with.”
The collection is timed for the release of the upcoming biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody, which debuts on December 23rd. Whitney was a known fan of MAC Cosmetics and the collection was even used on the set of the movie.
Whitney entered the formal music industry in 1983 after being discovered in a New York nightclub. Clive Davis, then head of Arista records, offered him a world record deal. From there, his multi-Grammy winning music career took off with a number of Billboard Hot 100 singles.
