Mangaluru: Desi festival ‘Milan’ organized grandly at St. Joseph’s Engineering College | Jobs Vox

Mangaluru, December 17: St. Joseph’s Engineering College (SJEC) hosted MILAN 2022, a desi festival on the campus on 16th December with great enthusiasm. College.

The management, faculty, staff and students of SJEC assembled at 9:15 a.m. for a brief inauguration with a procession including Punjabi Dhol. The inaugural ceremony followed by the lighting of the lamp, speech by the principal and later by the students kickstarted the enthusiasm with a flash mob and games for the staff and students. The Punjabi Dhol performance attracted the attention of the crowd at the venue, with students expressing their interest in the festival by dancing to the beat of the Dhol.

Dr. Rio D’Souza explained the real essence of the cultural confluence, MILAN 2022, the importance of diversity, love and compassion that binds different communities together, human qualities that bring us together so that diversity becomes the element of alliance to unite all together Unique power of individuals to bring on stage and celebrate this wonderful occasion.

This was followed by various events which included Ujjwal, Chitrakala, Rang Tarang, Aahar, Shutter Up, Reel-in Milan, Ethnic Fiesta and Navaratna.

Milan 2022 was organized in the evening at the basketball court of the college in the presence of dignitaries including Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director SJEC, Fr Alwyn Richard D’Souza, Assistant Director SJEC, Dr Rio D’ Souza, Principal, SJEC, Dr. Purushottam Chippar, Vice Principal, SJEC and Rakesh Lobo, HR Manager, SJEC. Colorful clothes, music and dance celebrating the ethnic diversity of the SJEC campus all added to the wonderful and energetic performance of the participants. The talent of SJEC students was on display and the event was an epitome of rich cultural heritage and traditions.

Aren Joy Fernandes, a final year student of SJEC, pursuing Electronics and Communication Engineering, has been felicitated for his achievement at the international stage for representing India in the Asian Junior Powerlifting Championships held in Dubai, UAE from 27th November to 8th December was done. He took the gold medal in a 74-under. KG Category Powerlifting Championship by lifting 240 kg with bronze medal in squat, bench press 145 kg deadlift 309 kg and new world record with gold medal. Overall, he won the gold medal with a total lift of 694 kg. He has also been awarded the title of Best Weightlifter Junior Male 2022. Prizes were also given to the winners of various competitions on the occasion.

The other highlight of the day was the grand procession in the evening by the students of the college accompanied by the Nashik Band. Special highlights of the evening included Nashik bands and DJs. The event was coordinated by Rachna Crasta and Prasad SM along with the rest of the organizing team.
