MAC pays tribute to the Queen of Melody Noor Jehan | Jobs Vox

Multan Arts Council (MAC) paid a lavish tribute to cultural icon and one of the most legendary voices of Pakistan, Malika-e-Taranum Noor Jehan, for her unparalleled service to the entertainment industry.

For more than 35 years, Madam Noor Jehan ruled the film industry and sang around 6,000 songs for Urdu, Punjabi and Sindhi films.

Madam Jehan was not only a playback singer but also a talented ghazal singer, various artists and other literary figures said at a function titled ‘Gaaye Gi Dunya Geet Meray’ on Friday night. For her acting and singing abilities, Noor Jehan was awarded the President’s Award in 1957, the speakers said.

Renowned artist and educationist Prof. Rahat Multanikar said that Noor Jehan’s name will shine for a long time. His service will again be written in golden words, he added. Salim Qaisar, director of the Multan Arts Council, observed that Noor Jehan had gained international popularity.

Comedian Agha Majeed also highlighted various personality traits of Malika-e-Tarannum Noor Jehan. He said that during the 1965 war, he maintained the morale of the armed forces.
