Bharti Airtel has partnered with Tech Mahindra to deploy a private 5G network at Mahindra and Mahindra’s Chakan facility near Pune in Maharashtra. The rollout of the 5G network will make the Chakan facility India’s first 5G-enabled vehicle manufacturing unit, Airtel said in a statement.

The introduction of the 5G network has significantly increased network speeds at the Chakan facility, the telecom operator said.

With improved speeds and low latency, the facility is now able to perform multiple software flashes, downloading critical vehicle software in parallel. This allows for faster processing times and faster turnaround times for all vehicle shipments. The facility’s computerized vision-based inspection is fully automated, resulting in improved paint quality on vehicles.

The telco is testing use cases and delivering spectrum with multiple partners and across multiple locations as part of its #5GforBusiness offering. In partnership with Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel offers enterprise solutions like Factori.NKST among other specialized services.

Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel launched its 5G services in Lucknow on Wednesday. Airtel 5G Plus services will be available to customers in phases. Users with 5G-enabled devices will enjoy the high-speed Airtel 5G Plus network at no extra cost, the company said.

Shares of Bharti Airtel ended 0.4 percent lower at Rs 825.85.
