Android 13 is headed to LG Velvet – Phandroid | Jobs Vox

[ad_1]

It’s a Christmas Miracle – A few years after LG announced its exit from the smartphone business, LG Velvet has announced Android 13. This is likely to be the last major software update for the handset after the Android 12 update announced earlier this year.

According to the company, the Android 13 update will come to the handset in the first quarter of 2023. This is in line with LG’s promise to provide the Velvet with three major OS updates with periodic security updates.

The LG Velvet, which debuted in 2020, was a different approach for LG, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to save the brand’s smartphone business on its own. The mid-range handset comes with hardware like a 6.8-inch P-OLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, 6 or 8GB of storage, 128GB of expandable storage, and a triple-camera rear setup. It has a capacity of 4,300 mAh and a 25W fast charger.

In our review, the LG Velvet made too many compromises in a market where tons of other mid-range smartphones offer a better experience at a lower cost. At the same time, it’s commendable that LG is sticking to its update schedule, and Velvet owners should keep an eye out for future updates related to the Android 13 patch.
