Year-End Special: 2022 Large and Mid Caps Offered 4.73% Toppers give double digit returns | Jobs Vox

The active schemes in the large and mid-cap category have returned an average of 4.73% in 2022. But the highest double-digit returns in the category have been delivered over the same period. Large and mid cap schemes have a mandate to invest at least 35% each in large and mid cap stocks. Large-cap stocks fared better in 2022, but mid-cap schemes were under pressure.

The large and mid cap category has 27 schemes including active and passive schemes. The two popular large and midcap benchmarks NIFTY LargeMidcap 250 – TRI and S&P BSE 250 LargeMidCap Index – TRI have delivered 7.66% and 8.22% respectively this year, according to ACE MF data. That is, the category provided a low average return.

The Quant Large and Mid Cap Fund was the highest among active large and mid cap funds with a return of 17.65%. Tata Large and Mid Cap Fund is ranked second. The scheme offered 14.50% returns. ICICI Prudential Large & Mid Cap Fund followed, with returns of around 14%. HDFC Large and Mid Cap Fund and SBI Large & Midcap Fund delivered 11% returns, according to ACE MF data.


The only passive scheme in the large and mid cap category is Edelweiss NIFTY Large Mid Cap 250 Index Fund. The scheme has delivered 5.21% returns this year.The scheme is among the top 10 performers in the large and midcap category, according to data from Price Research. Active large- and mid-cap schemes generated revenue of Rs 18,783.04 crore during January-November 2022. These schemes resulted in an inflow of only Rs 8,714.68 crore by 2021.
