Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and LG are reviewing the progress of national highway projects in J&K | Jobs Vox

New Delhi, December 21: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari and Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today reviewed the ongoing National Highway projects in J&K. Union Minister of State, General (Retd.) V.K. Singh; Union Minister of State Shri Jitendra Singh, Central and UT officials were also present in the meeting.
After a detailed discussion, the meeting finalized the design of the upcoming Katra Inter Modal Station. It will enhance the travel experience of pilgrims visiting the Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Temple and improve infrastructure and public mobility.
In the meeting, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) projects were reviewed in J&K UT and steps were taken to resolve various issues related to the projects.
Keeping in view the influx of tourists to major tourist spots like Sonamarg during winters and also to keep Sonamarg open to the public during winters to connect with local people, measures were discussed.
NHAI & NHIDCL will install surveillance cameras on their highways to give special impetus to tracking and monitoring of vehicular movement.
The works related to Sri Amarnathji Yatra of NHIDCL were also reviewed and directed to complete the ongoing works for smooth and hassle-free operation of the pilgrimage.
The Lt. Governor said that the J&K administration is giving priority to infrastructure development in the Union Territory and various measures are being taken to complete the ongoing projects on time.
“Modern infrastructure and modern connectivity are the priorities of an independent Jammu and Kashmir. Our main goal is to create conditions for sustainable economic growth and social development,” the governor said.
