Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday said there would be no issue with Chief Minister N. Rangasamy over governance.

Addressing the media after the soft launch of the Satellite Launch Vehicle 2023, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam said that Ms Soundararajan, along with the Prime Minister, was willing and able to address “any small source of unhappiness”.

After the Prime Minister reiterated his oft-stated demand for Statehood as the only way to achieve autonomy in the Union Territory, the Lt. Governor said that he has always maintained since assuming office that he does not want to comment on Statehood. each benefit must accrue to the Union Territory and its people.

“The prime minister may have expressed his wishes again (for the country). I can assure you that the fact that Puducherry is a Union Territory and not a State will not prevent you from getting what you deserve. The Center is extending all support to Puducherry and it is definitely making progress. “There is no problem between me and the Prime Minister, between the Union Territories and the Centre.”

He dismisses the Opposition, including the Congress, raises demands for state power, or accuses the Lt. Governor of running a parallel government, calling it mere politicization as the Congress has done nothing when it has been in power at the Center for decades.

“No matter who criticizes me, I will not give up files related to public welfare. In fact, one of the first tasks after assuming office was to clear pending files related to various welfare programs. On the contrary, some measures that may cause difficulties for the people have not been implemented. Keeping the welfare of the people at the forefront is one of the goals of Mr. Rangasamy, who served four terms as Chief Minister,” said Ms. Soundarajan.

If there are bureaucratic bottlenecks in the implementation of the welfare program, they will be resolved. “I, along with the Prime Minister, are going to meet the top officials on Tuesday to review the situation,” the governor said.

On the liquor licensing controversy, which even the BJP has opposed, she said, “Anything that affects the public adversely will not be implemented. I will call and inquire about the relevant materials,” Ms. Soundarajan said.
