The duo behind The Blonde are introspective with the new collection

From the first beat, it was clear that Blonde’s latest collection would mix their past with the label’s latest collection, and one embellishment would tie it all together – the gold chain.

Strutting to Jennifer Lopez’s Get Right, the first model dazzled in a gold corset bodysuit with dangling gold chains on Wednesday. From there, golden links adorned everything from corsets to denim to printed fabric and even leggings.

Creative couple David and Philippe Blond draw not only on their love story, but on the first day of their brand unveiling of their spring/summer collection on the closing day of New York Fashion Week. Their shows delivered their high-octane opulence with embellished jumpsuits, slinky evening gowns and shiny chunky heeled boots.

“Philip and I used to go out all the time and we absolutely fell in love with dance music,” says David Blond. “And the music of that time really means something to us like a special place in our hearts.”

Models strut down the runway and pose seductively to pounce. Rapper Saucy Santana struts and twerks while performing some of her TikTok hits, including “Material Girl.”

David Blond said he wanted the collection to pay homage to their past with more sculptural pieces, while moving the brand’s future towards more ready-to-wear activewear. For designers this meant: chain printed shirts and leggings but also their classic corsets.

“We are starting a series of print collections based on archival pieces that Philip and I have photographed and translated into digital prints,” says David Blond.

The looks were inspired by research for their first book, which drew them to one of their signature elements: their chain hardware treatment, which has adorned the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B and Sharon Stone.

Celebrities in attendance included a mix of reality TV stars and social media influencers, and some fashionable stand outs such as performance artist Amanda Lepore and style icon Daphne Guinness. Designers have also featured celebrities on the runway, from singer Cassie Ventura to YouTube personality Nikita Dragon.

Ventura, known for her early 2000s hit “Me and You,” took to the runway in a denim corset body suit with dangling gold chains that swayed as she walked in thigh-high denim boots.
