Tech Mahindra, a leading provider of digital transformation services and solutions, consulting and business reengineering, has signed an agreement with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) to establish a global delivery center in Cairo.

According to the MoU, Tech Mahindra will hire more than 1,000 employees over the next three years to serve global and local customers from its newly opened center in the Egyptian capital.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Mostafa Madbouli, Prime Minister of Egypt, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT), Egypt, Ajit Gupte, Indian Ambassador to Egypt and other senior Tech Mahindra officials led by Ram Ramachandran, Senior Vice President and Head of Middle East and Africa.

Dr. Talaat approved the agreement signed with Tech Mahindra, as part of several agreements with 29 multinational companies, creating over 34,000 export-oriented jobs through 35 global delivery centers with an export value of $1 billion annually.

“With its unique central location at the crossroads between 3 continents, Egypt delivers a resilient high-quality digital infrastructure and provides an appropriate legislative framework that keeps pace with rapid global growth.” Our rich supply of technology talent is ready and competitively priced, with a proven track record of providing business services for global firms in more than 100 countries in 20 different languages,” said the minister at the signing ceremony.

The new facility in Cairo helps Tech Mahindra’s clients across sectors; namely, Telecom, Oil and Gas, BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance), Energy and Utilities and Public Sector using Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Analytics, Cloud and 5G technologies.

This is in line with Tech Mahindra’s commitment to expand its global delivery centers and invest in upskilling and reskilling local Egyptian talent.

Harshvendra Soin, Global People Director and Head of Marketing, said, “At Tech Mahindra, we are committed to diversifying our talent pool across delivery centers around the world over the next few years. We want to expand the talent base, improve the agility to deliver solutions, and be closer to customers.”

“We also have various initiatives to upskill and retrain our associates, enabling them to advance career opportunities and enabling us to maintain the density of our talent pool,” he noted.

Amr Mahfouz, CEO of ITIDA, said: “We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Tech Mahindra, helping ITIDA achieve its strategic goals of the ambitious Digital Egypt Strategy for the Offshore Industry (2022-2026), which aims to multiply export revenues from the offshoring sector, while at the same time creating more domestic jobs for our skilled talent pool.”

ITIDA is working hard to capitalize on the current geopolitical situation which has led to major challenges in key delivery locations, while also monitoring the global talent shortage.

“We are investing heavily in building the digital and soft skills of our large talent pool, with a strategic focus on developing the country’s capabilities in high-value services, including engineering, research and development (ER&D), embedded software and electronic design,” he added.

Tech Mahindra has partnered with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) to be an integral partner for success in the digital transformation journey the country is currently witnessing.

Ramachandran said Egypt is a source of great talent and technical skills that could boost service delivery in regional and global markets.

“It is also a key growth market for us in the MEA region; therefore, the launch of our technology center operations in Cairo marks an exciting milestone for Tech Mahindra. We aim to further strengthen our presence in Egypt by adding 1,000 employees within the next three years,” he pointed out.

“We plan to support our Egyptian and global clients who want to do business in Egypt with a wide range of services and technology capabilities,” Ramchandran stated.

Tech Mahindra believes in the DigitALL philosophy for comprehensive business transformation. As part of the NKST.Nov framework, which aims to advance the ‘Human Centric Experience’, Tech Mahindra is focusing on investing in new technologies and solutions that enable digital transformation and meet the evolving needs of users, he added.
