Throughout the season, New England Patriots quarterback Mack Jones has made his frustrations more apparent each week. Despite the team’s offensive shortcomings, former Patriots linebacker Vince Wilfork says Jones needs to do a better job of keeping his composure.

After the Patriots’ strange loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, Wilfork joined NBC Sports Boston and criticized Jones for making his anger so visible every week.

– I’m tired, you know what I’m saying? Wilfork said. “I’m tired of that. You’re the leader of this team. You’re the quarterback, so you can’t be disappointed every week and every game. I don’t care if you make the play or not. Call it late or whatever. At the end of the day, you’ve got to show some composure , because you work on a ship. You’re the captain of the ship when you’re out there. Then you have your teammates watching you every week and every game. Every other game, it’s this, that and the other.”

Wilfork said the team is entirely to blame for the 7-7 record, but he also noted that Jones needs to focus on what he can control. As a leader, Jones must remain calm when adversity strikes, according to Wilfork.

“Control what you can control,” Wilfork said. “It’s all you can do. I’m tired of seeing him throw out his hurt and temper. We get it. At the end of the day, not everyone plays to the best of their ability. It is what it is. For everyone, including him. I I’m not going to just dump all of this on him, but at this point I’m tired of seeing it. I think a lot of other people are tired of seeing it, and I’m here to say it.”

Wilfork wasn’t the only Patriots alum to take aim at Jones this week. On the latest episode of “Inside the NFL,” former receiver Julian Edelman snapped Jones, clearly frustrated And couldn’t save the game against the Raiders.

“You know what, he also doesn’t do all the dirty work after the game and take the coaches and all those silly faces and stuff,” Edelman said. “He doesn’t practice it and he does it. Why can’t he hit? That’s bad.”

Jones had an uneven 2022 season, just like the rest of the Patriots, and now the team is fighting to stay in the playoffs. Jones will get a chance to redeem himself Saturday afternoon when New England plays the defending AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals.
