Oxford Lions, Wicker and Tkach named to MAC 6A All-State Team

Three Oxford High School volleyball players earned all-state honors last week after helping lead the Chargers to a 30-10 record this season.
Sophomore Claire Wicker and seniors Bree Lyon and Torey Tkach each earned spots on the Mississippi Coaches Association Class 6A All-State Team.
Wicker set a school record this season with 962 assists, the first by a full-time Lady Chargers. The versatile setter also recorded 252 digs, 60 kills and 37 blocks.
Lyon and Tkach capped their illustrious careers this season as they also etched their names into the school’s record books.
Lyon passed Maggie Hobson as the school’s all-time leader in career kills, becoming the first player in program history to surpass 1,000 in a career.
She also finished with five career digs over 1,000 after posting 312 this season.
Tkach, who became the first Oxford volleyball player to commit to a Division I high school program earlier this year, also found herself in the record books.
The 6-foot-3 middle blocker finished as the program’s all-time leader in blocks after leading the team with 91 this season.
The Lady Chargers reached the semifinals in the North Semifinals before upsetting Madison Central in four sets.
