The Oluwo of Iwo State, Oba Abdulroshid Akanbi, has commended the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke for his decision to grant autonomy to the local government areas of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by Oba Akanbi on Monday in Osogbo.

Oba Akanbi, during the monthly meeting, Adeleke stressed that the decision to open the state books of account to the fathers of the king was commendable. He also said the move was a sign of the governor’s recognition that the monarchy plays an important role in managing political affairs.

The statement further said, “I don’t know where he got the wisdom to meet the traditional institution to start his administration, but I know it is divine wisdom from God. He is starting to make good notes to recognize the traditional institution.

“Similarly, the governor should again be commended for his promise to grant autonomy to local governments in Osun State.

“In doing so, we will restore confidence in local government and deliver the dividends of democracy to the grassroots.”
