LG handed over keys to e-rickshaw to Mathur University

LEH, December 19: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Capital City Administration and Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd. in Leh, where Lt. Governor RK Mathur was the chief guest.
LG Mathur handed over the keys of two e-rickshaws donated by J&K Bank to University of Ladakh and J&K Bank presented a letter of commitment to support 50 Tuberculosis (TB) patients in Kargil as part of Korgil CSR. CSR) activities.
According to the MoU, J&K Bank will provide most favored customer status to UT administrations and active permanent employees having salary accounts with J&K Bank; UT administration shall nominate J&K Bank as preferred banker for all banking related services; J&K Bank will organize various financial awareness camps at its centers to support and advise UT employees and J&K Bank will provide platinum, diamond and gold savings bank account services to UT Ladakh permanent employees.
Executive Council Member, LAHDC Leh, Stanzin Chosphel; Consultant Umang Narula; Secretary Tourism and Labor Mehboob Ali Khan; Managing Director/CEO Baldev Prakash; Prof. SK Mehta, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh; Additional Secretary, Finance, DC Rajathkumar; Shrikant Suse, Deputy Commissioner, Leh; J&K Bank management and staff were present on the occasion.
LG Mathur suggested that the Hill Council, the UT administration and the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) may both help J&K Bank to launch the scheme and identify large-scale beneficiaries willing to take loans from the bank. Such economic activity will enable J&K Bank to improve its loan-to-deposit ratio in Ladakh, he said. He said that Ladakh is one of the few regions in the country that is performing very well in terms of non-performing assets (NPAs).
He appreciated the CSR activities of J&K Bank and said that the mobile banking facility provided by them will enable the Bank to bridge the gap between them and the people of the remote areas of Ladakh. He wanted to identify and schedule areas in both the Hill Councils to enable the public/customers to access banking services provided by J&K Bank.
LG Mathur requested J&K Bank to review the progress of RSETI Training Center and expand the training program to develop more entrepreneurs from Ladakh so that they can set up their own units/enterprises. He also asked J&K Bank to increase its efforts to provide modern banking services to the people of Ladakh.
Earlier, EC, LAHDC Leh, Stanzin Chosphel and J&K Bank were asked to increase their stake in UT Ladakh banks to 15%, open more bank branches in small villages in Ladakh and simplify loan procedures.
Economic development in the region depends on the financial system managed by banks and other financial institutions, said consultant Uman Narula. He also suggested strengthening the banking services provided by J&K Bank in Ladakh.
Regional Head of J&K Bank, Ladakh Dorje Angchuk gave a detailed presentation on the key features of the memorandum, services provided by J&K Bank, key business areas and initiatives.
Baldev Prakash, MD/CEO, J&K Bank welcomed the guests while Tsevan Dorjei, Deputy General Manager, J&K Bank delivered the vote of thanks.
