Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Friday met Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena was accused of interfering in the day-to-day functioning of the Delhi government.

The Deputy Prime Minister accused Saxena of “inciting” ministers and issuing orders in violation of Supreme Court orders.

As part of the power struggle, the LG’s office and the Kejriwal government frequently exchange views on governance and policy issues, including the now-defunct Delhi excise policy.

Sisodia also threatened the official with suspension if he did not follow the instructions, the letter said.

Sisodia said he was writing the letter “due to very alarming developments brought to my notice, namely your office’s recent tendency to demand documents from various departments.” According to NDTV.

He said, “This inappropriate activity is contrary to established traditions and practices related to government business transactions, as well as to the relevant provisions of the Constitution.”

The Deputy Prime Minister reminded that the elected government of Delhi retains the power to make decisions except for three subjects: public order, police and land.

“It is humbly submitted that His Highness’s recent act of issuing direct orders to officials in the matter of bypassing the Council of Ministers is contrary to the law and order of the Hon’ble Supreme Court (Supreme Court),” Sisodia said in a media report. .

“Therefore, I request you … to take timely and necessary corrective action to avoid avoidable controversy and embarrassment,” he added.

The letter is the latest in a heated exchange between Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and lieutenant governors representing the BJP-led central government.

Central agencies launched a probe into the now-repealed liquor policy at the behest of the Delhi mayor, prompting a raid on Sisodia. The agencies have detained Delhi minister Satyendar Jain in connection with money laundering.
