The Mahindra & Mahindra Chakan car manufacturing plant has become India’s first car manufacturing plant with 5G technology. Communications provider Bharti Airtel and Tech Mahindra, a leading provider of digital transformation, consulting and business reengineering solutions, have entered into a strategic partnership to deploy a ‘5G for Enterprise’ solution at the carmaker’s plant.
The 5G for Business solution has significantly improved Chakan’s network connectivity, resulting in improved software flashing speeds, a critical operation for all vehicle shipments. Incredibly high speeds and ultra-low latency now allow managers to undertake multiple software flashing sessions in parallel, resulting in reduced operation time. Furthermore, computerized vision-based inspection is now fully automated resulting in improved paint quality.
