Mac Pro 5.1 A1289 No signal when trying to install Mojave software update after uninstalling Mojave | Jobs Vox

[ad_1]

Hi, I bought a Mac Pro 5.1 A1289 and it came with rx580 GPU and Mojave installed. The person I bought it from said they forgot the login password, so I followed an online tutorial on how to reinstall Mojave to remove the password. I was able to boot into Recovery and then was able to remove the installed Mojave (although there was another partition that had 2GB of space. I didn’t touch that partition, I just uninstalled the OS). So after I uninstalled it, I chose to run the Mojave installer from the Internet. After selecting this option, I got a screen that said “Firmware update is required to install Mojave”.
So it had a shutdown option (I can’t remember if it worked when I clicked the shutdown button or if I went to the top and chose the shutdown option from the dropdown). It also says to hold the power button until the light flashes or when you hear the tone it makes after the light flashes, so I did. After I heard the sound, I let go of the power button and waited a few minutes to see if the screen showed up, but I have no hdmi signal. So I manually shut down the Mac Pro and tried again, but nothing. So I googled this issue and found out that the RX580 doesn’t show preload. So I found this post on Reddit: Mac Pro 5.1 Mojave No Signal and found that I had the exact problem. So I followed the link listed by the poster support person and found the instructions on how to update the firmware and it said unless I have the original GPU that has EFI support I can’t get video output after powering up. Click until the light turns on and you hear a tone. So I looked at Apple’s website and it said what gpu the Mac Pro 2012 came with and bought the ATI Radeon HD 5770 that was in the other Mac Pro that has two mini DisplayPorts and one dual link connector. Before I removed the RX580 GPU to install the Radeon HD 5770, I wouldn’t get the chime when I turned on the Mac Pro until I did a PRAM reset, and then I could hear the chime on boot. So when I installed the Radeon HD 5770, I get the call when booting, but still no HDMI output. I use a mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter on my Vizio Smart TV. So I tried to boot into recovery and I can’t, or maybe I just don’t get the hdmi signal. I can hear the fans on the Radeon HD 5770 when I turn on the Mac Pro. I couldn’t hear the RX580 fans running until I changed the GPU to a Radeon HD 5770 when I tried to get video output to see the firmware update. I checked the diagnostic lights and saw green lights (one next to the hard drive and managed to see 4 green lights. I don’t know what to do at this point to make it work. Could it be because I’m stuck on a firmware update (because I can’t see the screen due to no hdmi signal ), which is required to reinstall Mojave, that I no longer have the drivers for the Radeon HD 5770? I can’t boot using command option R or command option shift R at this point either, and I don’t have a bootable OS on my hard drive because I uninstalled OS Mojave. I have no idea What should I do now. Can someone please help me. I have spent the last 3 days googling and reading articles to see what can be done to make this work, but I can’t find anything.
Thank you

Edit: I’d like to add that when I installed the RX580 gpu, I couldn’t see it booting and could only get an HDMI signal after Mojave was booted and at the login screen.
