The petition sought to allow overseas Pakistanis to vote in local elections.

It is worth mentioning that during the regime of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Overseas Pakistanis Voting Bill was passed.

However, as soon as the current PDM government led by Shehbaz Sharif came in, it waived this right and allowed the National Assembly to disenfranchise overseas Pakistanis.
