A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) to allow overseas Pakistanis to vote in local government (LG) polls in Punjab.
According to details, the Lahore High Court has moved to transfer the right of overseas Pakistanis to vote in local elections.

The petition filed by Mohammad Nadeem Yusuf, an overseas Pakistani, impleaded the federal and state governments, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and NADRA as respondents in the case.
The petitioner said that overseas Pakistanis are present in large numbers in various countries of the world and they play a major role in the country’s economy.
The petition sought to allow overseas Pakistanis to vote in local elections. Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered the closure of all markets in the provincial capital by 10 pm as part of efforts to reduce smog.
In addition, the court allowed markets to close on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 10:00 p.m., on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays until 11:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Justice Shaheed Kareem passed the order while hearing a similar petition filed by Haroon Farooq and others seeking an end to the worsening smog situation.
During the court hearing, it was pointed out that the sky was pretty good this morning and that according to the court decision, the smog had decreased to a certain extent. However, the judge added that there was now a need to monitor the implementation of the judgment.
The court ordered the closure of schools that were not closed on Friday. The school education department was ordered to strictly implement the court order and the hearing was adjourned till December 19.
Hina Hafizullah, representative of the Court’s Water and Environment Commission, also made a speech during the hearing. Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday ordered the closure of all markets in the provincial capital by 10 pm as part of efforts to reduce smog.
