Delhi Governor V.K. Saxena approved several project proposals aimed at changing the appearance of the capital and improving infrastructure.
Some of the major projects include those of the Center and other agencies. The LG gave its approval after receiving the proposal from the Delhi government.
Work on projects such as redevelopment of GPRA Colony at Srinivaspuri expected after 2019; GPRA Colony Sarojini Nagar, pending after August 2021; NHAI works like Urban Extension Road (UER-II) expected after September 2021 will start soon, officials said.
On this occasion, a source in the LG office said, “Lt. Governor V.K. Saxena said the Delhi government had to exercise its power to withdraw the files to finally send the 11 critical infrastructure files under Section 19(5) of the Transaction of Business (ToBR) GNCTD Rules, 1993. national capital, to be approved by the LG.” Rule 19(5) of the ToBR empowers the LG to withdraw excessive pending files with the Minister/Prime Minister in public interest.
Sources added that after implementing the above rules, the LG Secretariat duly approved the files, which had been pending for years and months, and were signed by the Environment Minister and the Prime Minister within days and sent to the LG for approval.
These files related to tree transplanting and afforestation permits have been pending at the Environment Agency for some time.
Despite the fact that the Ministry of Environment has repeatedly raised the issue of unreasonable delay with the Prime Minister, he has written twice to the Prime Minister about the unjustified and unexplained delay in granting permission by the Department of Environment. ensure quick removal.
Besides, while clearing the file for the IIT-Delhi building, which has been pending for approval for over a year and a half, the LG has marked on the file to speed up approvals for such projects of national importance, sources in the LG office said.
Other proposals in this regard include construction of CISF housing blocks at Saket, flyovers and under-bridges at Sultanpuri and Nangloi, group housing project at Roshanara Road and road construction from Parmanand Chowk to Kingsway Camp. Burari Road.
A LG Secretariat official said that the said proposal is still pending with the Environment Department despite the allocation of land for reforestation and proper payment.
