Salespeople, engineers and customers will work together in iguverse

Stamford, CT, US, December 19, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — igusThe Germany-based manufacturer of Motion Plastics announces the igus iguverse, iguverse is the parallel digital universe of igus that creates sales and engineering for the metaverse.

Pokémon Go and other VR computer games enable users to participate in social events in a 3D simulation. The technology shows how powerful a parallel digital universe can be. When rapper Travis Scott gave a digital concert with an avatar in April 2020, more than 12.3 million players gathered in the virtual space. A parallel digital universe could be of equal importance to industry and commerce.

“We are furthering the vision of iguverse, a virtual space in which all of our products can be experienced as digital twins, but that is not all,” says Frank Blaise, CEO of igus. “Customers around the world will have the opportunity to work with engineers and project managers at iguverse to develop machines, systems and vehicles and immerse themselves in projects and applications. This will save time and money.”

selling in virtual space

Visitors to the 2022 IAA Transportation trade show in Hannover got a glimpse of the iguverse. At the igus booth, visitors donned virtual reality glasses and, along with igus employees, got a first look at the start of the igus Metaverse.

In the future, users will be able to view 3D models of products such as the Energy Chain from all sides in a 360-degree panoramic view. They will experience igus infrastructure, such as the 3,800-square-metre test lab in Cologne, without having to travel and will immerse themselves in applications that use igus components. Such applications range from plastic bicycles with iglides to futuristic minivans Plain Bearings, Dryline linear guide, and e-chain For an oil platform that uses modular E-loops energy chain system. These impressions are not nearly as impactful and lifelike when communicated with traditional media such as catalogues, brochures, multimedia presentations, videos and past 3D objects.

Customers are nine times more likely to remember experiences in virtual reality

Frank Blaise says, “The iGuruverse represents a new way of presenting, selling, and engineering. It has great potential for future sales. For many, the metaverse is still uncharted territory.” “We want to learn even more and travel this path with our customers. For example, salespeople and customers can wear VR glasses and immerse themselves in iguverse during customer visits.”

Frank Blaise continued, “Studies show that customers are nine times more likely to remember experiences in virtual reality and thus understand things better.”

Intuitive, time-saving engineering in virtual reality

But iguverse, the digital twin of products and infrastructure, is only one phase of expansion. In the future, customers, engineers and materials specialists will meet as avatars in the digital space, completing entire engineering projects faster and more smoothly than is possible only in the physical world.

igus is also looking at expanding iguverse to include a B2B platform for other manufacturers. They can then represent machines and systems in the virtual space using iGUS components.

According to American market research firm Gartner, it is a megatrend. Gartner reports that digital channels will represent 80% of B2B sales interactions between suppliers and buyers by 2025. However, igus will use the B2B platform to build a growing reference database for Motion Plastics, which can also be accessed virtually.

Selling Digitally with Augmented Reality

igus is also using a new form of digital sales and presentation with augmented reality. An example of this is Triflex TRX Energy Chain Chain. Sales staff and customers used to have very few opportunities to see inside a closed sample range. Some of the mechanical principles that are particularly unusual in the Triflex TRX had to be left to the imagination.

Augmented reality changes all that. If employees activate the software on their smartphones using a QR code on e-Chain, the application overlays the product on the screen with an animated virtual twin. This enables a type of X-ray view of the mechanisms inside the chain. Products that require clarification become clear.
