Some people think it’s just an American thing and want nothing to do with it, but others have already had quite a few Halloween parties this weekend. Trick or Treat at the doors has not completely blown over yet, but in the Netherlands we especially like to dress as if we are creeps. Witches, zombies, vampires, mummies resurrected from the dead, they all passed through the average city this weekend. Funny, because in the United States, the costume party is certainly not all about the creeps: a lot of celebrities dressed up as famous characters or persons, such as Marge Simpson and ET.
Nice that in the Netherlands we make it a bit more of a real horror party and focus on the horror of it. For example, we have Halloween events in some theme parks to terrify visitors when night falls, and more and more people are making beautiful jack-o-lanterns, those spooky-faced pumpkins like the one above. see article.
A lot of Halloween has already passed, but today is October 31 and then it really is Halloween: these are the nicest tweets and hacks.
The Google Doodle
Google has brought back a very cool game for Halloween. It also had it as Halloween-Google Doodle in 2018 (Google’s title if you go to Google.nl), but this is the slightly more elaborate second version. The idea is that you fly around with a ghost and collect all kinds of flames, which then float behind you like a string. However, there are also opponents who try to take your flame. Once your flames are in your base, they are safe, so you should go there regularly. If you do it right, you’ll get all kinds of handy power-ups, making it even easier to collect flames. Very nice and you can now play the game called The Great Ghoul Duel 2 for free under the Google Doodle.
Halloween on Waze
Google sees deep into the Halloween spheres, because its app Waze also has a Halloween theme. There are Halloween-style profile icons and vehicle icons, but even better, there are also navigation voices that sound like zombies. In the side menu, go to Driving with Zombies and you can continue as a survivor or as a zombie. Lots of fun!
An ultra-themed party like Halloween naturally requires fun hacks from the advertising agencies and employees of large companies. Where it was sometimes a bit quiet in terms of inhakers last year, organizations now seem to be really looking forward to it. A small selection:
But there are also plenty of private mortals who are completely in the Halloween spirit: enjoy!
