Apple users still have some time to wait to get their hands on the long-rumored M2-equipped Mac Pro.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the ultra-high-end desktop PC has been delayed for several reasons. The report claims that Apple is designing a new, next-generation M2 Ultra chip for the PC.

Since this is a high-end product, expect certain specifications. Bloomberg suggests that the model will boast 24 CPU cores, 76 graphics cores and 192GB of RAM.
However, this is less powerful than previously thought, as older reports suggested that the Mac Pro’s chipset contained 48 CPU cores and 152 graphics cores. This is likely a cost-cutting measure for consumers, as more advanced specs will push the PC into the $10,000 range.
Another reason for the delay? Apparently, Apple is moving production from Texas to Vietnam. Current Mac Pro models are finished in Austin, although key internal components have always been made in China. In other words, parts will continue to be built in China, and final assembly will move to Vietnam.
Bloomberg also notes that Apple is likely to produce new variations of the M2-powered Mac Mini, with updated MacBook Pros arriving early next year. Unfortunately, the updated Apple Silicon iMac Pro also suffers from similar delays compared to the Mac Pro.
Apple is pushing ahead in the monitor space, including an update to the Pro Display XDR and “multiple new external monitors,” according to the report. All these monitors are expected to be powered by Apple Silicon chips.
