The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Engineering Automation Technologies Ltd., Dr. Emmanuel Okon has bridged the gap between engineers emerging from Nigerian educational institutions and the expertise required to practice the profession.
Therefore, Ocon advised stakeholders in the industry to come together and find ways to bridge the gap.
He said this in Eket, Akwa Ibom State while being honored with an Honorary Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE) for his commitment and contribution to the engineering profession in the country.
Dedicating the award to the staff and management of EATECH, Okon acknowledged their ardent commitment to unlocking the full potential of Nigerian youth for utilization in the engineering industry, improving the capacity of local engineers and bridging the noticeable manpower gap in the sector Appreciated NIMechE for ,
He said, “One of the reasons why I am accepting this honor is because I saw the commitment of NiMechE in training young engineering graduates, therefore providing job security to the youth. There is a huge gap between engineers who go to schools and and engineers are required for field jobs and recognizing that gap is a yearning.
“Therefore, when I came to know about your commitment, I was inspired. I am also inspired by the flagship projects set up by NiMechE as an institution and I look forward to following up with the board till the end and, if possible, in oil and I would like to appeal to extend this to the gas industry so as to close the major gaps.. The Engineering and Construction Department will once again work closely with the Institute to provide the necessary training.
