AWE is looking for an Engineering Team Leader to join our Test and Testing team and manage a technical team made up of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Within this role, the hiring manager is ideally looking for an experienced leader with a technical understanding. As the team you will be leading is made up of engineers, an engineering understanding would be helpful but not essential as this role is primarily about developing your team members and improving the way they work, making things focused on creating. more efficient. Other key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Employees’ performance is assessed, measured against agreed individual objectives and responsibilities, and corrective action is taken to improve performance through appropriate management interventions

  • Using subtasks strategy to define teams’ operational plan while managing resources in a safe, secure, and cost efficient manner

  • Ensuring that work performed by the team and/or teams conforms to AWE strategy, policies, procedures, processes and quality standards while minimizing risk to the delivery of the integrated technical programme.

  • Providing agile capability, providing critical skills and resources in line with the business needs underpinning the program

We are looking for successful candidates for the following:

  • Proven experience leading a successful team while adhering to company policies and procedures

  • Significant proven experience of delivering technical projects on time and with quality

  • Strong technical leadership with the ability to develop internal/external technical collaborations and influence project direction

  • Proven track record of driving delivery, performance and continuous improvement

  • Degree in an engineering, scientific or STEM discipline, equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification or equivalent experience

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the role
