Engineering student slit throat in Bengaluru hostel on first day of college – The New Indian Express | Jobs Vox

Bengaluru: A 19-year-old first-year engineering student allegedly committed suicide by slitting his throat with a knife at his college hostel under Bannerghatta police station area on Wednesday.

The victim Nidin P is a resident of Kozhikode district of Kerala. He was found strangled inside the toilet of his hostel room. He was a computer science student at AMC College of Engineering.

College Principal Dr. Girisha C said, ‘On questioning her roommate, it was found that there were some problems in her family. Other than that, we don’t know much about him as he was a first year student who had joined just two weeks ago. Nidin’s father works in Dubai while his mother and grandmother live in Kerala.

“On Wednesday afternoon, the roommate, Gaurav Ganapathi, returned from class to find the door locked from inside. On not getting any response, the roommate informed the hostel warden. The warden along with others broke down the door and found Nidin lying in a pool of blood with his throat slit. The warden informed the police about the matter around 8.30 pm, said an official.

Nidin got admission on 1 December and classes started on Wednesday, but he was absent on the very first day.

It is being told that Nidin was worried about some family matter. During his stay in the hostel, he was seen calling someone several times and was upset for not getting a proper answer. He was also heard arguing with someone over the phone.
