The Delhi Police on Wednesday destroyed drugs worth $1,513.05 million seized between 2015 and 2022 under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The disposal of the seized drugs was directed by Lieutenant Governor (LG), V.K. Saxena, Commissioner of Police (CP), Delhi, Sanjay Arora along with members of the disposal committee were sent.

The process of incineration of the drug was carried out at an incinerator in Niloti, Delhi. The LG expressed satisfaction with the efforts being made by the Delhi Police to curb the menace of drugs in the capital.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said he was keeping in mind the directives of the Government of India to create a drug-free India as per the directives issued by the Finance Ministry and the Revenue Ministry following the Supreme Court order. The Drug Enforcement Directorate (DDC) of India and the Special Branch of the Delhi Police have been short-listed for seizure of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS), which do not require any legal action.

The General Directorate of Criminal Investigations conducted a physical examination of the seized items and checked the weight and other details of the seized items according to the seized documents.
In addition, a total of 2372.830 kg of ganja, 213.697 kg of heroin, 22.378 kg of raw heroin, 04 kg of ketamine, 05 kg of pseudoephedrine, 26.161 kg of charas, 3.4 grams of LSD, 200 kg of gram-24k tablina, 200 kg of heroin. , 238,652 kg of psychoactive substances seized in 65 cases were destroyed in an incinerator.
