DLZ Awarded Engineering Services Contract for NICTD’s South Bend Airport Realignment Project | Jobs Vox

DLZ Indiana, LLC, headquartered in South Bend, IN, is pleased to announce that they have been awarded an engineering services contract by the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District (NICTD) for the South Bend Airport Realignment Project .

The purpose of the project is to provide commuters with a faster, safer and more efficient way to travel between South Bend and Chicago. The South Shore Line station will be moved from the east side of the South Bend International Airport terminal to its west side, reducing travel time, providing a new and modern platform/airport waiting room, and eliminating 18 at-grade crossings By doing this, security will increase.

“Realizing ninety-minute express service from South Bend to Chicago could be as transformative for present and future generations as the toll road was in the 1950s. NICTD has been an important client of DLZ since the 1990s, and DLZ has partnered with NICTD on over one hundred and fifty projects over the past forty years.

The project includes design and an environmental compliance document, followed by procurement and construction administration. Construction could begin as early as fall/winter of 2024, depending on whether federal funding is secured.
