Delhi Mayor V.K. Saxena on Thursday supported the Delhi Police’s proposal to appoint special prosecutors to represent the Union Territory in the Shraddha Valkar murder trial.

According to the LG’s office, advocates Madhukar Pandey and Amit Prasad will represent the Delhi Police as special public prosecutors in the matter.

Shraddha (27) was killed by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala (28) in the couple’s rented flat in Delhi’s Chhattarpur Pahadi area.

Aaftab is alleged to have chopped his body into 35 pieces and stored the chopped body parts in a refrigerator before dumping them in forested areas in Delhi and Gurugram.

On December 9, he was produced in a Delhi court through video conferencing and the court extended his remand for 14 days.

Scientific tests have confirmed parts of the body found in Mehrauli and Gurugram to be Shraddha’s, Delhi Police said on Thursday.

Speaking to ANI, Delhi Police Special Commissioner of Law and Order Sagar Preet Hooda said that they have received the DNA and polygraph test report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL).
