CMU signs the No. 1 recruiting class in the MAC | Jobs Vox

Central Michigan University emerged from Wednesday’s early signing day with the No. 1 football recruiting class in the Mid-American Conference, a class that CMU head coach Jim McElwain called the best in Chippewas football history.

CMU signed 16 3-star recruits to earn the No. 1 ranking in 247sports.com, behind Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan.

“This is the best recruiting class in our school’s history,” McElwain said in a press release. We’ve tried to focus on the state of Michigan and the surrounding areas, and that effort is reflected in who we sign. Additionally, we already have a big jump on our 2024 and 2025 classes.

Ten athletes who have signed NCAA letters of intent to play at CMU will enroll in the spring semester.

Of the players who signed with CMU, 15 earned all-state honors, eight led their teams to state championship games, 22 were multi-sport athletes and nine were four-year varsity players.

Twelve of the 25 athletes are from Michigan, with five offensive linemen, four receivers and four defensive linemen leading the way.
