It’s nothing but heartbreak after excitement. According to reports, Infosys, Tech Mahindra have withdrawn the offer letters given to freshers.
For young technicians, it was a shock! In what was a huge heartbreak, major tech firms like Infosys, Tech Mahindra and others have withdrawn offer letters given to freshers, according to reports. It appears that earlier the companies were delaying the entry of freshers by almost three to four months. The information caused major heartbreak among fresh college graduates who were looking forward to joining a top firm and had been waiting for months to get their joining dates. Many newcomers claimed that no explanation was given on the basis of the rejection.
First reported by BusinessLine, the news story cited emails sent by companies to students whose offer letters were revoked. According to the freshers, they had to go through multiple rounds of interviews and a grueling selection process.
The engineering graduate from Bhopal revealed her rejection letter from Infosys to BusinessLine which read, “It has been identified that you do not meet our academic eligibility criteria. Therefore, your offer is null and void”. However, according to the recipient, she met all of the company’s educational requirements. She said, “My grades are above the required percentage. Despite all this, I got rejected”.
Tech giants revoke offer letters sent to freshers
Rejection email from Tech Mahindra stating the reason for rejection as “certification test failure”. The recipient told BusinessLine, “The company has mandated completion of 12 courses as part of the joining process. Despite completing them and getting a certificate, I was rejected”.
Similar rejection emails have been reported from Wipro to candidates as well. However, in a statement, the company said, “Wipro can confirm that it will honor all offer letters sent to deserving candidates, in phases.” No such statements have been made by Tech Mahindra or Infosys.
Although the reason for this mass rejection of candidacy is not known, the consistent pattern among top IT and technology companies highlights that a possible cause could be rising global inflation and fears of a recession in the coming days. Companies have already started to cut costs. Reports suggest that TCS will defer its variable pay to employees, while Infosys will cut it by 70 percent. According to reports, Wipro is likely to shelve it altogether.
