Bharti Airtel on Thursday announced a strategic partnership with Tech Mahindra to deploy a 5G private network at Mahindra’s Chakan manufacturing facility.

Mahindra’s Chakan plant has become India’s first car manufacturing unit with 5G technology, the company said.

The telecom executive said the ‘5G for business’ solution has significantly improved Chakan’s network connectivity, resulting in improved software flashing speeds, a critical operation for all vehicle dispatches. High speeds and ultra-low latency now allow managers to undertake multiple software flash sessions in parallel, resulting in reduced turnaround time for the operation.

Furthermore, computerized vision-based inspection is now fully automated resulting in improved paint quality. Airtel is leading the 5G deployment in India. The company has tested use cases and delivery of spectrum with multiple partners and in several locations as part of its #5GforBusiness offering, the company added.
