Alexis McAllister continued the party with a World Cup winner’s medal in Argentina as his Brighton team-mates were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties by League One side Charlton.
Ashley Maynard-Brewer was the hero for the Adikes, saving from Moises Kaisdo after the Seagulls avoided three spot kicks of their own after a scoreless 90 minutes.

As Brighton’s other World Cup representatives returned to the pitch in a slump, McAllister was posting footage of himself hugging Lionel Messi and showing off his medal to family and friends at home.
Brighton’s exit will hardly spoil his week, but it will be a missed opportunity for the Seagulls, who squandered plenty of chances before losing from the spot.
Solly March missed a sitter in normal time before hitting the post with the winning penalty.
Brighton coach Roberto de Zerbi said: “We made a lot of mistakes in the last few metres.
“We had a match against March, but we made another mistake.
“When you make mistakes like that, you have to lose the game.”
It was all smiles for Charlton, 18th in the third tier, as new manager Dean Holden watched from the stands.
There may be fresh chaos off the pitch, with supporters saying they don’t trust Danish owner Thomas Sandgaard, but there were raucous celebrations nonetheless as they reached the last eight of the tournament for the first time since 2007.

Australia’s Maynard-Brewer said: “When full time went and it went to penalties I was pretty relieved.
“It shows what this club can do, one of the big dogs in the next round would be unreal.”
Charlton sat deep early on but Brighton’s only chance of the first half saw Adam Lallana send an effort over the bar.
The home side came out of their shell as Jack Payne surged forward and cut inside from the left before sending a low shot into the arms of Jason Steele.
Steele then had to put his body on the line after Levi Colville and then Lewis Dunk both made passes to the keeper who was forced to come out and charged by Charlton’s Miles Lyburn.
Dunk then had to wrestle away a last-ditch block from Stephen Sessegnon.
The Seagulls gave Maynard-Brewer more to think about after the break, with Denise Ondav and Billy Gilmour both netting.
Colville then got close to Pascal Gross’ free-kick, his header bouncing off the post.
March made his worst miss of the night, weaving through a sea of redshirts to go one-on-one from six yards out, only to slide his effort wide.
Charlton continued to hang on, Maynard-Brewer again on hand to turn away substitute Leandro Trossardi’s effort for a corner.
Crosses from Pervis Estupinan and Tariq Lamptey both came in across the six-yard box, just needing a blue shirt to tie them up, but none came.
Brighton were equally wasteful from the spot. Gross and Trosar hit the post and either side of Charlton’s Jaden Stockley, also hitting the woodwork.
Jake Forster-Caskey and Evan Ferguson both converted before Steele saved from George Dobson and Ruck-Sack, but March continued the comedy of errors and allowed Charlton to come back.
Lamptey blasted home as we entered sudden death but Maynard-Brewer denied Caisdo before Sam Lovell fired home a convincing strike for the Addicks.
