The chairmanship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Mr. Tombra Kelvin Teibowei, has sued the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for alleged failure to conduct local government elections in Bayelsa State.

EG Okele Esq on behalf of Mr. Tombra Kelvin Teiboway in Suit No.YHC/158/2022 filed in the State High Court at Yenagoa. DD Fiderikumo Okele & Co. Legal Advisers vs. BYSIEC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 1st and 2nd defendants, the plaintiffs, are guilty of BYSIEC’s decision to delay the chairmanship and councilor polls previously scheduled for May 14, 2022 considered that.

Previously, when political parties and candidates were busy preparing for the local elections scheduled for May 14, 2022, BYSIEK head N. Ball Oyared issued a statement on April 28 postponing the poll.

He said BYSIEC will notify the public, especially interested parties, of the new date for the polls because of the apparent conflict with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
