Another BJP vs AAP controversy? Delhi LG gives nod to appointment of several officers in MCD | Indian news | Jobs Vox

In a decision that could spark fresh political protests from Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena today approved the appointment of several officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. According to official sources, the appointment was made through open advertisement in accordance with the due process and the selection committee made the selection based on the pre-set criteria and weightage given in the interview. However, the ruling AAP and the opposition BJP are known to have repeatedly clashed over various issues including the appointment of officials.

The appointment of the MCD comes at a time when the new AAP team is yet to take over and the first post-election council meeting is yet to take place.

A senior Raj Niwas official told PTI that the LG has approved the appointment of three additional Deputy Commissioners/Joint Assessors and Collectors and 19 Administrative Officers/Assistant Assessors and Collectors in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Since assuming the post of LG, Saxena has been working to improve the efficiency of the MCD and officials have been instructed to fill up the vacancies in the shortest possible time, he said.

“These officers, who are deputed from other government offices and departments like CSS, IRS, NDMC, CAG, CGST & CE, Income Tax Department etc., will greatly help the understaffed Corporation to perform its administrative work better in the areas of revenue generation, assessment and collection. duty,” the official said.

The 250-member town hall will hold its first meeting on Jan. 6 after a public vote. In the recent MCD polls, the Aam Aadmi Party won 134 constituencies, ending the BJP’s 15-year rule. BJP won 104 constituencies while Congress managed to win only nine constituencies.
