Winner of College Level Digital Artist Entry Featured on LG’s Times Square Billboard New York City
NEW YORK, December 20, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — LG Electronics USA Winners of the LG Wonderbox Showcase, a unique creative competition for college-level art students that encourages innovative ways to express ideas through 3D digital art that reflects the spirit of LG’s brand promise of Life’s Good, have been announced.
The winning artwork will be displayed on LG’s Times Square billboard until mid-January. Prizes awarded are first place, $25,000; second place, 10,000 dollars and third place, 5000 dollars. The winners were also given a 27-inch LG Ultrafine Nano mobile phone 4K monitor is ideal for creating digital animations.
They are a family couple who won first place in their country with their work “Rocket Ship”. Utah – Evan West of Utah Valley University and Ashley West from Brigham Young University. Evan is an animation designer who works at a top-tier animation studio and loves animation and design, and Ashley is an artist, textile artist, and costume designer.
Second place was awarded Sera Moonstudent Maryland Institute College of Art and creator of Gnomes. Originated from Moon Seoul, South Korea and moved Baltimore study animation. Chloe Co He is the 3rd place winner with his digital artwork titled “Giant Gift”. Born and raised South KoreaKo is currently involved School of Fine Arts in New York City and specializes in 3D motion graphics and Houdini FX.
The original competition was created to inspire creative designers and artists and help them launch their careers in animation. Students were asked to submit “Wonderbox” animations that create their own digital worlds, spark curiosity, and then open up moments that surprise, engage, delight, and transport viewers to a whole new world of possibilities.
“We wanted to participate in the LG Wonderbox Showcase because it was an interesting way to bring our talents together,” West said. “Our artwork depicts a rocket on an exciting journey through space. The theme of space travel represents forward progress in all areas of life. Our vision of who we can become as we work towards high goals and overcome difficult challenges. expanding. We want to constantly explore uncharted territory, innovate to find solutions to life’s problems, and share beautiful creations with the world.”
Entries were reviewed by three renowned creative artists specializing in design and animation: a renowned director and a 3D/VFX artist. Clinton Jones; award-winning, Emmy-nominated digital artist Penelope Nederlander; and Bradley Munkowitz, also known as GMUNK, whose creativity spans a wide range of media. The judges were an integral part of the Wonderbox Showcase.
The winning artwork was displayed on LG’s billboard during a celebration at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. Students, family, friends and judges flew in from all over the country to see their home content for the first time. After the grand opening, the finalists were presented with their winning cheques Chulho WowVice President of Marketing at LG Electronics USA.
