Visakhapatnam: World’s largest online retailer Amazon will set up a facility in Visakhapatnam in 2023. The facility will be a system software development center and an IT-based service center.
In a tweet, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) Visakhapatnam said Amazon will open a facility in Visakhapatnam with an initial investment of Rs. 55.65 million and provide about 120 jobs. The targeted increase in software exports is likely to rise to Rs. 184.12 crore over the next three years.
Visakhapatnam, the IT hub of Andhra Pradesh, already has many IT companies including Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Conduent, Miracle City, Patra India, VNS, Fluentgrid and Ciient. Adani Group has been allotted 130 acres in the city to set up a data park with an estimated investment of Rs. 14,500 crowns. Infosys recently announced that it will set up its satellite office at Rushikonda IT SEZ Hill-2 and will work with the existing staff in Vizag.
According to Minister of State for IT and Industries Gudivada Amarnath, Vizag is all set to become an IT hub. In 2021-22, Visakhapatnam contributed Rs. 776 crore in IT exports out of a total of Rs. 1,256 crore of Andhra Pradesh’s contribution.
