Visakhapatnam: The world’s largest online retailer Amazon will establish a facility here in 2023. It will serve as a center for the development of system software and IT services.
Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) announced here through its Twitter account that Amazon will set up a facility at the park with an initial outlay of Rs 55.65 lakh and create around 120 employment opportunities. In the next three years, software exports are expected to reach around Rs 184 crore.
“This is a very good development at the right time.” Thanks for the initiative of Chief Minister Jagan Reddy. The state and especially the city is witnessing huge investments and top companies like Amazon are ready to start operations. This will be the beginning of making Vizag a hub for IT development,” said MLA Avanti Srinivas.
Amazon is the second major corporate to enter Tier-II and Tier-III cities in the state, after Infosys. Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Fluentgrid, Ciient, VNS and more companies are operating from Visakhapatnam in recent times.
“This is a big step towards better development of the city, especially in the IT sector,” added Visakhapatnam MP MVV Satyanarayana.
