Airtel launches 5G services in Hyderabad

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel on Thursday launched its 5G services at multiple locations across Hyderabad, including metro rail, railway stations and bus terminal.

Airtel said customers in Hyderabad can enjoy ultra-fast 5G connectivity while traveling on Hyderabad Metro Rail at Secunderabad and Kacheguda railway stations along with Imlibun Bus Depot, Telangana’s largest Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT).

Additionally, customers can enjoy Airtel ‘5G Plus’ at multiple locations in the city including Begumpet, Banjara Hills, Jubilee hills, Hi-tech City, Gachibovli, Bovenplli, Kompalli, RTC Cross Roads, Koti, Malakpet, Charminar, Habsiguda, Uppal , Nagole, Kupatpalli, Miyapur, among other locations.

Airtel said it is still in the process of expanding its network to make its services available across the city in due course.

Airtel and Tech Mahindra said Mahindra’s Chakan facility has become India’s first car manufacturing unit with 5G technology.

“I am delighted to announce the launch of Airtel 5G Plus in the city which will touch the lives of millions of commuters every day while traveling on different modes of transport. Airtel customers can experience an ultra-fast network and enjoy speeds up to 20-30 times faster than current 4G speeds while on the move,” said Shivan Bhargava, CEO, Bharti Airtel, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Airtel said its 5G network will provide access to high-definition video streaming, gaming, multi-chat, instant photo upload and more.

Airtel on Thursday also announced India’s first private 5G network with IT services firm Tech Mahindra, as part of a strategic partnership, at Mahindra’s automobile plant in Chakan.
