The client is a government agency that wanted to manage its entire initiative by implementing an access control management system. After a competitive tender process, Tech Mahindra was awarded this cyber security project to control and manage all movement of government agency personnel and their system access. The opportunity arose as an extension of the good work done by Tech Mahindra in completing the field/landscape study project, which is pre-engagement consultancy work for the Central Account Management (CAM) implementation project. Understanding the requirements, the Tech Mahindra team implemented Sailpoint, managed key resources and adopted suggestions such as training and workflow adjustments
The client intended to create a foundation of corporate security based on identity security due to the increasing number of users, devices and applications in today’s business. As this project was to be implemented using Sailpoint, we faced certain problems such as:
Offshore The solution Architect – As the key solution architect from the pre-sales phase was offshored, project presentations and post-award kick-off calls were delayed
Unavailability of local resources – This project required a skill set (knowledge of Sailpoint products) and the unavailability of local resources at the Singapore site was
Retention of key resources – Due to market fluctuations, key solution architects have resigned and retention has become a challenge.
Sailpoint Vendor Professional Services – A key Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) resource fell ill in the middle of the implementation phase, leading to delays in knowledge transfer and input
Involvement of multiple stakeholders – There was a need to handle various stakeholders such as agencies, HR warehouse system and ITSM system in an aggressive time frame of 7-8 months of implementation phase.
The team at Tech Mahindra retained all existing key resources from Sailpoint expertise and AWS cloud experts and delivered the scope of work on time.
As the Sailpoint product is a key item in the successful implementation of this project, the Tech Mahindra team together with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Sailpoint Professional Services (PS), coordinated and successfully completed the commercial implementation (COTS).
Previous (landscape) study consultancy project resources from Tech Mahindra were extended to handle this project, helping new project team members understand the business objective of the CAM project and advance new team members to adapt faster.
