NEW DELHI: The AAP on Tuesday came under fire LG VK Saxena He was likened to Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, mocked his edict as “another love letter” with no legal value, and was given Rs 97 crore by the party for political advertisements published under the guise of government advertisements.
Boss AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj BJP-led state governments have spent $22,000 crore on advertising, party chief JP Nadda said, and should be told when to return it to the exchequer.

There was anger in Delhi’s ruling party after official sources said that LG Saxena had directed the Chief Secretary to recover Rs 97 crore from the AAP for a political ad it published under the guise of a government ad.
“The important thing here is that LG has no right to talk about it. In our films, we see dialogues like ‘Aurangzeb aa rahe hain aur woh apna farmaan sunaayenge’ (Aurangzeb is coming, he will announce his decree). “I LG I hope he will be treated in the same way soon,” Bharadwaj said, referring to the 18th-century Mughal emperor who was often criticized for his policies and actions.
He alleged that the LG was issuing guidelines on matters over which he had no legal authority. “He thinks he is the Shahenshah (emperor) and is starting to issue decrees without any legal authority.”
He claimed that the LG was working at the behest of the BJP, which was another “love letter” he sent to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. “We have said this before. As Valentine’s Day approaches, the number of letters from LG will increase,” he added.
He claimed that BJP is having sleepless nights as AAP has become a national party.
“Also, BJP is now directly attacking the people of Delhi after the people of Delhi defeated the BJP in the recent MCD elections. Now it’s not about AAP vs BJP, it’s BJP vs BJP. People of Delhi, so The BJP is starting to obstruct the work of the state government to help the people of Delhi,” he alleged.
Bharadwaj said the BJP had “requested” the LG to make up for its old issue of Delhi government’s ad spending, which had been resolved long ago but was being resurfaced.
“He is asking us why the Delhi government advertisement is being published in newspapers distributed outside Delhi. I have looked at the newspapers for the last one month and I don’t think any state has a BJP-led government. No advertisement has been published in a newspaper published in Delhi,” he said.
Bharadwaj said if advertisements in BJP-ruled states like Gujarat, Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh are taken into account, the cost would be around Rs 22,000 crore.
“BJP has come forward to ask the Delhi government to pay Rs 97 crore. But what about the Rs 22,000 crore your party has spent in different states of the country? When will you pay this amount? We want. BJP National President Shri J.P .Ask Nadda when his party will pay this amount to other state governments in the country? They will come forward and pay this Rs 22,000 crore and then we will pay Rs 97 crore,” he said. .
Bharadwaj also said that LG pointed out that the Delhi government had spent crores of rupees to promote the Pusa bio-digester, while the cost of the bio-digester was only a million dollars.
“What an illogical argument is that? The cost of this scenario is not the item itself, but the dissemination of knowledge,” he said.
