3-day conference on water-related issues concludes at Engineering College : The Tribune India | Jobs Vox

Hydro 2022 – the 27th International Conference on “Hydraulics, Water Resources, Environment and Coastal Engineering” – concluded at Punjab Engineering College (PEC) here today. The event was organized by PEC and Indian Society for Hydraulics (ISH), Pune.

Rajinder Singh, known as the Waterman of India, has been working on water-related issues and has been awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award (2001), the Jamnalal Bajaj Award (2005), the Stockholm Water Award (2015) and the Ahimsa Award (2016) ) has been awarded. participated in the program.

Addressing the audience, Rajinder said that there is a need to go local to solve global problems related to water and climate change.

“We need to learn from the experiences of the local people of our country, act with intuition and rejuvenate the rivers of India. There is a need to infuse community spirit with science and engineering to solve water-related issues.”

He further said, “We need science and engineering that nurture nature. Working together for sustainable development is the need of the hour.” He congratulated the PEC and all the committee members for organizing an informative conference and creating a platform for people across the country to share ideas to solve water issues.

The three day conference had 25 technical sessions and two plenary lectures. More than 500 participants from various IITs, NITs, IISc and reputed institutes participated in the event. About 300 research papers were selected for the conference.
