21,640 new business units, over 1.70 lakh jobs created in JK: LG Sinha | Jobs Vox

SRINAGAR: Lt Governor Manoj Sinha shared the story of J&K’s remarkable strength and resilient growth at the ‘Badalta Jammu Kashmir’ conference in Mumbai on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by former Governor of Uttar Pradesh Ram Naik; Vinod Tawde, Former Minister, Government of Maharashtra; Members of Parliament; Ministers, legislators, former ministers and senior politicians.

On the transformational journey of UT, the Lt Governor said that J&K has become one of the fastest growing UTs. The success of the capital in the last three years gives new hope to the people. He added that never before PMEGP, Infrastructure construction and execution of projects have been progressing at such a pace in the last three years.

The Lieutenant Governor said that rapid development, improved socio-economic indicators, unprecedented progress in all priority sectors, high tourist inflows and industrial investment are testimony to the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.

The governor also called on the government to emphasize reforms to empower every strata of society, make all citizens, especially the youth, agents of change and provide equal opportunities to an aspiring society.

Youth are writing bright future of J&K. The Deputy Governor said that the administration has taken many steps to accelerate economic development and create supportive schemes and policies to fulfill the aspirations of the young population.

Difficulties in implementing people-friendly governance and creating new businesses and industries have been removed. It is our duty to provide equal opportunities to all, added the Lt. Governor.

“Article 370 was the root cause of separatism, terrorism, nepotism, discrimination and corruption and made J&K underdeveloped. Three years after breaking with the past, we are moving towards a new path of development,” said the governor.

Decisive and tough steps are being taken against the ecosystem of terrorism and corruption, he added.

The world is changing. India has emerged as a global economic powerhouse as the world’s largest democracy and its achievements inspire J&K UT to strengthen the nation and contribute to building a modern India, said the Lt. Governor.

He noted that the Prime Minister’s Employment Enhancement Program – PMEGP has become the most powerful tool to contribute to the society by creating an unprecedented 21,640 new manufacturing and service units and creating more than 1.70 million jobs.

The Lt. Governor also talked about revitalizing and promoting Jammu Kashmir as a preferred location for film shooting and its close ties with the Mumbai film industry.

On the occasion, the guests of honor and keynote speakers shared their views on the transformational changes taking place in Jammu and Kashmir.
